Initial Heating Settings

Initial settings for verification (scale markings are approximate)Timer DialNo temperature setting / 8min

Flip the food after about 4 minutes, and check that the center is heated through and tender once cooking is complete.

This is the cooking time for the first round. Please refer to the instructions for preheating. You’ll need to check for doneness and cook further as needed.

The total time, including preparation, cooking in batches, checking, and additional heating, has not been measured.

Check Before Cooking
  • Cut 150g of eggplant into half-moon slices no more than 10mm thick. The quantities, cutting method, and initial cooking time of approximately 8 minutes are based on independently designed prototype conditions by Crisp; official standards for this dish or the actual results when cooked in a real air fryer have not been verified. Do not adapt this recipe for whole eggplants or thick, irregularly cut pieces.
  • These instructions are specific to the Ninja AF080J model sold in Japan. Since the unit automatically adjusts the temperature based on a standard of approximately 200℃, do not adjust the temperature setting or select a specific mode.
  • Install the plate with the convex side facing up, and arrange the ingredients in a single layer with space between them. Do not exceed the MAX line (approx. 1.6L); any ingredients that do not fit should be cooked in a separate batch. Do not convert the capacity (L) to ingredient weight (g).
  • These are unique experimental conditions that start with a cold unit without preheating the empty appliance. When splitting the batch, allow the unit to cool sufficiently before starting again under the same conditions. The time required for cooling has not been confirmed.
  • The time on the dial is a guideline. If setting a time of less than 5 minutes, turn the dial past the 5 mark and then back to the desired setting. To stop the timer midway, turn the dial counterclockwise back to 0.
  • Removing the basket stops the heating process, but the timer continues to run. After checking on the food, verify the remaining time on the timer and return the basket; do not count the time the basket was removed as part of the cooking time.
  • Do not cover the tray with paper, foil, or containers; add light toppings after cooking. Do not leave the appliance unattended while in use. If you notice smoke or an unusual odor, stop the appliance immediately and follow the instructions in the user manual.

Instructions

0 / 4 Complete
  1. 01

Cut the eggplant into uniform pieces

Wash the eggplant, remove the stem, and cut it into half-moon slices no more than 10mm thick. Once sliced, do not soak them in water for too long; wipe off any surface moisture. In a separate bowl, mix 5g of soy sauce and 3g of ginger.

  2. 02

Lightly coat with oil and arrange them on a tray

Lightly coat the eggplant with 5g of canola oil. Arrange them in a single layer on a plate with the convex side facing up; if they overlap, cook them in separate batches. Do not add the ginger soy sauce or sesame seeds yet.

  3. 03

    Bake for about 8 minutes

Place the basket in the cold appliance and turn the dial to approximately 8 minutes. Do not set a temperature or mode. After approximately 4 minutes, turn over and reposition the eggplant, check the remaining time on the dial, and return the basket. The timer continues running while the basket is out.

  4. 04

Check the center and season accordingly

Cut into a thick piece and check that it is hot and tender all the way through. If it is not done, turn the dial past the 5 mark, then back to about 2 minutes, cook a little longer, and check again. The “about 2 minutes” is a guideline for checking, not a guaranteed time for completion. Transfer to a clean plate, toss with the prepared ginger soy sauce, and sprinkle with sesame seeds to taste.

Check the results

It’s done when the center is heated through and tender, and the surface has reached your desired level of browning. Do not judge whether the center is cooked based on browning alone; the actual texture and cooking time have not been verified.

If you get stuck along the way

The skin burns first

Stop the cooking process briefly to check the thickness and the tenderness of the center. Since you cannot adjust the temperature, check at short intervals to avoid overcooking.

The surface dries out

Review whether the ingredients are evenly coated with a thin layer of oil and arranged without overlapping. Do not adjust the method by allowing oil to pool in the basket.

How the Recipes Were Created and Sources Consulted

These are original recipes created using AI on Crisp. They are not listed as official manufacturer recipes or recipes that have been verified using actual devices.

Standards verified in official documents
The timer dial goes up to 60 minutes. The temperature is automatically adjusted based on a standard of approximately 200℃.
Independently designed details and unverified points
Official cooking guidelines for the same dish have not been confirmed. The 150g of eggplant, thickness of 10mm or less, initial setting of approximately 8 minutes, turning after approximately 4 minutes, and ginger-soy sauce mixture are independently designed prototype conditions by Crisp. Only the AF080J operating specifications have been checked; actual heating times and cooking results have not been verified on the appliance.
