Initial Heating Settings

Initial Heating (Untested)Air Oven180°C / 15min

Flip them after 10 minutes, and check the onions and the inside of the batter after 15 minutes.

This is the cooking time for the first round. Please refer to the instructions for preheating. You’ll need to check for doneness and cook further as needed.

You’ll need to select each slice and coat it one by one. The total time to completion—including prep work, checking progress, and cooking in batches—has not been measured.

Check Before Cooking
  • Slice the onion into 12mm-wide rings, and use 1〜2 layers of rings with a diameter of 4〜7cm. Do not use small cores or broken rings.
  • Install the inner rack in the correct orientation and arrange the food in a single layer with space between each piece. If the entire quantity does not fit, divide it into 2 or more batches, checking the results after each batch. The basket’s 3L capacity does not guarantee that it can hold the weight of this recipe.
  • Arrange the food in the basket without lining it with paper or aluminum foil, and make sure not to block the steam vents. Lightly coat the food with oil; do not let it pool in the basket.
  • These are test conditions in which refrigerated main ingredients are heated immediately after preparation, without preheating. Frozen items are not included.
  • Additional cooking and cooking batch 2 start with the interior already warm, so the same results as the initial batch are not guaranteed. Do not increase the quantity and extend the cooking time proportionally.
  • Keep continuous use—including additional heating and cooking in batches—to less than 180 minutes. When using the appliance continuously, follow the instruction manual and allow the unit to cool completely before resuming use.

  1. 01

    Divide without breaking the ring

Peel the refrigerated onions and slice them into 12mm-wide pieces. Separate the rings—each 4〜7cm in diameter—into 1〜2 layers, and weigh out a net total of 160g. Pat them dry thoroughly. Set aside the small cores for another dish.

    Making a Thin Batter

In a bowl, mix 25g of cake flour, 35ml of water, and 1g of salt until there are no lumps. Dip the onion in the mixture, then shake off any excess liquid. Spread 30g of breadcrumbs on a separate plate, press them lightly onto both sides of the onion, and brush off any excess breadcrumbs.

  3. 03

    Spread the oil evenly

Using a brush, lightly apply 8g of rice bran oil to the batter in small amounts, pressing it in gently. Arrange the rings in a single layer on the correctly fitted inner rack. Do not pack additional rings inside the existing ones; if they do not all fit, save the remaining ones for the next batch. Do not add any leftover batter or breadcrumbs.

  4. 04

    Cook at 180℃, turning occasionally.

Start without preheating: Air Oven, 180℃, 15 minutes. After 10 minutes, pause the cycle, use tongs to support the rings, and flip them over. If a large amount of breadcrumbs flies out, stop the cycle and discontinue cooking. When returning the rings to the oven, be careful of steam and hot surfaces.

  5. 05

Check the batter on the inside as well.

After 15 minutes, cut a thick slice to check that the center of the onion is tender and that there are no pockets of raw, damp batter inside the coating. If the batter is still damp, set the Air Oven to 180℃ for 5 minutes, then manually stop it after 2〜3 minutes and check again. If the surface is burning, stop the cooking cycle; do not eat any uncooked batter.

    Plate and serve with

Transfer the cooked rings to a plate and serve 20g of ketchup on the side. Do not mix the remaining raw batter into the sauce or use it to coat the finished product.

Check the results

Make sure the thicker parts of the onion are tender and that there are no pockets of raw flour inside the coating. Stop when the breadcrumbs are just lightly browned; we cannot guarantee the same texture as deep-fried food. The flavor, texture, and any additional cooking time required have not been verified using an actual air fryer.

If you get stuck along the way

The batter comes off the ring

Pat the onions dry, avoid a thick buildup of batter, and press lightly after applying the breadcrumbs. Support the outer edge when turning the rings.

The back of the batter gets damp

Do not nest or stack the rings; leave space between them. Avoid coating them with a thick layer of flour, as this increases the likelihood that the inside will remain raw.

How the Recipes Were Created and Sources Consulted

These are original recipes created using AI on Crisp. They are not listed as official manufacturer recipes or recipes that have been verified using actual devices.

Standards verified in official documents
The Air Oven setting range is 80〜200℃ and 1〜90 minutes. The manual states that a short press of TIME adjusts the time in 5-minute increments.
Independently designed details and unverified points
The standard specifications for RAO-3 onion rings have not been verified. We independently designed the 12mm-wide rings, the egg-free batter mixture, the oil volume, and the process for flipping the rings and checking the batter on the inside. The quantities, thickness, initial state, temperature, initial cooking time, and additional checks are uncooked prototype conditions proposed exclusively by Crisp.

The manual states that a short press of TIME changes the setting by 5 minutes, while its cooking references also include times such as 18 minutes. Since actual device increments are unverified, this page uses initial settings in 5-minute increments and distinguishes them from elapsed checking times. Omitting alcohol is an independent prototype policy.
